DALLAS—Creative Civilization—An Aguilar Agency has launched a new advertising campaign for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball League. The San Antonio agency bought the rights to James Brown’s hit, “I Feel Good,” for an undisclosed amount and created both a blues-rock and a Latin hip-hop version of the song. The “I feel good” tagline will show up on television, radio and billboard ads, as well as season tickets and collateral materials.

Utility Software Maker Chooses Makos

DALLAS—Makos Advertising, Marketing and Design has added Envision Utility Software Corp. to its client list. The Santa Fe, N.M.-based company makes customer information and billing systems software for the utility industry. Makos of Austin, Texas, will handle marketing, advertising and Web site design for Focis, a software application. Billings were not disclosed.

DALLAS—Bagwell Agency has been selected to handle the advertising account of Big Girls’ Bras etcetera. The Rowlett, Texas, retailer of lingerie for full-figured women primarily sells its products through a Web site at Dallas-based Bagwell is charged with building online traffic and providing public relations support.

Price Keeps Medical Center on Roster

DALLAS— Price Communications Group has retained its marketing business with Texas Tech Medical Centerfollowing a review. The Lubbock, Texas, agency competed against crosstown shops Creative Juice and Admarc Southwest for the five-year contract. Annual billings were not disclosed. Price has counted Texas Tech Medical Center as a client since 1996.

Brinker to Set Stage for Concert Venue

DALLAS—Brinker Communications has been hired to provide public relations services for a planned 6,500-seat live performance hall dubbed Texas NextStage of Grand Prairie. The facility is designed to provide amidsize entertainment venue for Broadway shows, concerts and dance events, among other uses. The Dallas agency will work with Akers/Hitchcock EntertainmentMarketing in Los Angeles to promote the new venue, developed by NextStage Entertainment of Houston.

BOSTON—AnswerThink is closing its office here and cutting back staff in London, agency chairman and chief executive officer Ted Fernandez confirmed. Layoffs occur as the Miami-based marketing specialist consolidates staff and operations after AnswerThink Consulting Group’s merger last year with Think New Ideas, Fernandez said. Sources added that the moves are also driven by a softness in the Internet segment and lackluster new business performances. The Boston office had between 50 and 80 employees a few months ago; a “handful” remain to complete various projects, sources said. Recent layoffs at AnswerThink in London may have claimed 80 percent of the staff, sources said.
