Nottingham & Husk Acquires 6 Clients

ATLANTA—Nottingham & Husk has added six new accounts to its client roster. The newcomers include: American Licorice Co. in Chicago; Yellowbrix, an Alexandria, Va., content provider serving online marketers; and Walker Equipment, a Chattanooga Tenn.-based manufacturer of telephones and other communications devices for hearing-impaired individuals. The three local accounts joining the Atlanta market research company are: Intermed Media, a communications firm specializing in pharmaceutical clients; Karastan, a producer of high-end carpeting; and Spire, a supplier of software for “computer illiterates” that is installed on hard drives.

St. John & Partners Wins at WebAwards

ATLANTA—Judges at the 2000 WebAwards have recognized two Internet sites developed by St. John &Partners. The Jacksonville, Fla., shop won outstanding Web site honors for its own venue ( A site created for Florida vacation destination Amelia Island ( was cited in the competition’s standard of excellence category.

Verizon Wireless Chooses Erwin-Penland

ATLANTA—Verizon Wireless has selected Erwin-Penland as its lead agency for retail marketing in the Southeast. The Greenville, S.C., shop will handle the telecom’s retail advertising and interactive and event marketing in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North and South Carolina and Tennessee.

U.S. Franchise Systems Names Fareed

ATLANTA—U.S. Franchise Systems has picked Fareed & Co. to handle all strategic marketing and branding efforts for its Microtel Inns & Suites and Best Inns & Suites brands. The Norfolk, Va., agency will employ online and traditional advertising media in the campaign for the Atlanta-based hotelier.

Dan Rosenthal Co. Strikes Gold in London

ATLANTA—Dan Rosenthal Co.’s radio commercial for the U.S. Mint won a gold medal at the London International Advertising Awards. The Bethesda, Md.-based agency’s ad introducing the U.S. Mint’s new gold dollar coin was selected as the world’s best radio spot in the financial category.

D.C., Virginia Lotteries Pick Winners

ATLANTA—The Kamber Group has been selected to market the Washington, D.C. Lottery. Billings for the one-year campaign total $1 million. Kamber is located in Washington, D.C. In Richmond, Va., Just Partners has won the estimated $4 million advertising account of the Virginia Lottery. Both shops’ multimedia creative efforts will include broadcast, point-of-sale, print, outdoor and collateral materials.

WestWayne Exec Moves to Barber Martin
