Southeast Toyota Eliminates 3 Incumbents

ATLANTA—The field continues to narrow in the competition for Southeast Toyota Distributors’ $70 million advertising account. Sources close to the review confirmed that incumbents Saatchi & Saatchi in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., McGee & Starr Advertising in Boca Raton, Fla., and the Moran Group in Baton Rouge, La., have all been eliminated. A sole incumbent, Omni Automotive in Birmingham, Ala., has survived to compete against WestWayne of Atlanta and Tampa, Fla., and Della Femina, Rothschild, Jeary and Partners, Grey Worldwide and Gotham, all in New York. Grey Withdraws From BellSouth/SBC Review

ATLANTA—Grey Worldwide is out of the hunt for the consolidated BellSouth/SBC wireless account. Sources close to the review confirmed that the New York agency dropped out, leaving WestWayne in Atlanta, GSD&M in Austin, Texas, and New York’s BBDO Worldwide to contend for the estimated $185-250 million advertising account. The Atlanta-based consultancy, Wanamaker Associates, declined comment.

Orkin Assigns Direct Marketing to Doner

DETROIT—Orkin Pest Control, a leading provider of pest and termite control services, has awarded Doner the direct marketing portion of its advertising business. Billing estimates for the account win varied wildly from $2 million to $20 million. Orkin’s vice president of marketing, Steve Danuser, did not return calls at press time, but a source close to the company called the$20 million figure “insanely optimistic, but potentially possible.” Founded in 1901, the Atlanta-based company—a division of Rollins Inc.—operates more than 400 service locations across the nation. J. Walter Thompson in Atlanta continues as the company’s agency of record.

Just Partners Wins Account of

ATLANTA—Just Partners has won the marketing account of, an Internet-based specialty staffing company. The Richmond, Va., agency won the business in a creative shootout against WestWayne in Tampa, Fla., and Atlanta. New York incumbent Grey Worldwide, which produced the headhunter’s poorly received Super Bowl television spots, did not participate in the review. Billings are said to be in the eight-figure range. Kforce, based in Tampa, services both individual and corporate clients. Its career specialties include information technology, finance and accounting, human resources, engineering and healthcare.

CMA Gives Branding Project to GSD&M

DALLAS—GSD&M. has been tapped to conduct a brand development project for the Country Music Association. The Austin, Texas, agency had previously created a public service campaign for the Nashville, Tenn.-based trade association aimed at improving communication between parents and children. GSD&M will develop a brand positioning plan aimed at increasing radio listenership, CD purchases, concert attendance and television viewership for the annual CMA Awards show.
