Waters Gains Virginia Vacation Package
ATLANTA–Waters Advertising Agency of Newport News, Va., has been hired to create television advertising for Virginia Theme Park Vacation, a co-op package that is the first alliance between two of the state’s major tourist attractions, Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion. Waters will also be responsible for direct mail, collateral material, Web site design and some public relations. Ads will highlight the options of a five-day unlimited admission ticket to the two theme parks and accommodations at a choice of Richmond and Williamsburg, Va., hotels. Billings were undisclosed.
Reeves Adds Lee Myles Car Centers
ATLANTA–Baltimore’s The Reeves Agency was named agency of record for the Mid-Atlantic Development Group, operator of Lee Myles automotive transmission service centers. Reeves will provide creative strategy, media planning and buying, market research, direct mail and public relations support for the client’s $200,000 marketing campaign.
Advance America Names Leslie Direct
ATLANTA–Advance America has assigned its $2.5 million direct marketing program to Leslie Direct, a unit of Leslie Advertising in Greenville, S.C. The Spartanburg, S.C.-based client owns and manages short-term loan centers throughout the U.S. Advance America’s lead agency remains BBDO South in Atlanta.
PNC Asks Mullen, Doner for More Time
BOSTON–PNC Bank officials are holding a new round of meetings with Mullen, Wenham, Mass., and Doner, Southfield, Mich., finalists in a review for the client’s $25 million account. The talks, set for the end of the month, are mostly “getting to know you” sessions, said Denise Johnson, PNC’s senior vice president of corporate marketing. Johnson said previous day-long presentations left both the client and the agencies feeling rushed and that more time was needed for dialogues.
GM, Disney Test Track Get Ayer Ad Push
ATLANTA–General Motors plans to leverage its new Walt Disney World Test Track attraction in ad and marketing efforts, both nationally and on a regional level, said Phil Guarascio, GM vice president of advertising and corporate marketing. A 30-second Test Track TV spot from corporate agency N.W. Ayer, New York, broke March 17. The thrill ride re-creates GM’s Milford, Mich., proving grounds, where cars are tested for safety and engineering prowess. The attraction is located at Walt Disney’s Epcot in Orlando, Fla.
Haggar Departs GSD&M for West Coast
DALLAS–Haggar Clothing Co. here has shifted creative assignments on its $10 million account from GSD&M in Austin, Texas, to Seattle-based advertising and design firm Foundation. The clothier said it plans to make a decision soon about its media assignments, also formerly with GSD&M.
