Marquis Spas Names Sossaman Bateman
ATLANTA–Marquis Spas of Memphis, Tenn., has placed its $1 million ad account with Sossaman Bateman & Associates in Memphis after considering a number of undisclosed shops across the country. According to the client, the decision was based on Sossaman’s “creativity and strategic approach.” The agency will be responsible for national and local consumer and trade advertising, marketing research and public relations.
4 Seek Recording Industry Account
NEW YORK–The Recording Industry Association of America, which represents more than 150 record labels, has chosen four contenders in the review for its estimated $30 million account, sources said. They are: Bozell Worldwide here; Foote, Cone & Belding, San Francisco; TBWA/Chiat/Day, Playa del Rey, Calif., and Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Ore. Strategic presentations will occur this week. The Washington, D.C., group did not return calls at press time; contenders declined comment.
Houston Helm Pair Acquires Phones for All
LOS ANGELES–Houston Helm and Co. and its sister agency, Houston Helm Bermudez Communications, have picked up general market and Hispanic ad duties for Phones for All, a prepaid local teleservice supplier. Combined billings are estimated at $10 million. The Los Angeles shops acquired the business without a review. The Dallas-based client previously handled its advertising in-house. The company sells it service through convenience stores, rent-to-own furniture stores and check-cashing centers in California, Texas, Florida, Indiana and Arizona, among other states.
Sparks Gains Anheuser-Busch Latino Promos
DALLAS–Spark/KJS in San Antonio was tapped by Anheuser-Busch of St. Louis as Hispanic promotions agency of record. Billings were undisclosed. Projects in Texas, California, New York, Illinois and Florida will initially involve the client’s Budweiser, Bud Light and Michelob brands. Spark/KJS already serves as the brewer’s corporate relations agency. Castor Advertising in New York leads A-B’s Hispanic marketing.
Energizer Bunny Is Back for Eveready
LOS ANGELES–TBWA/Chiat/Day is spearheading a $150 million global ad launch of the new Energizer advanced formula battery. The Playa del Rey, Calif., agency breaks TV spots this week starring the Energizer Bunny in the U.S. portion of the campaign, funded by over $50 million. Ads “bring the Bunny back to center stage,” said Mark Larsen, category manager of communications at Eveready Battery Co. in St. Louis.
