DALLAS-The Texas Lottery Commission confirmed last week it extended its advertising contract bid deadline to Thursday, May 20, for shops competing for the $30-40 million business. The new deadline applied to both the general market and minority media accounts. The commission has yet to disclose its list of agencies which filed intent-to-bid applications earlier this month. Incumbent GSD&M in Austin, Texas, is not defending the business.

LOS ANGELES-Outerwear marketer Outlast Technologies has selected Cole & Weber to create a new brand advertising campaign, following a review of several shops. The Seattle-based agency prevailed over Leagas Delaney in San Francisco, The Richards Group of Dallas and The Integer Group in Denver to win the estimated $6-10 million account. Incumbent MPH Strategic Brand Communications of Boulder, Colo., declined to participate in the pitch.
“Micrografx, Think New Ideas Part Ways
LOS ANGELES-Graphics software firm Micrografx has discharged interactive shop Think New Ideas as a cost-saving measure, agency executives confirmed last week. The Richardson, Texas-based company, which hired Think’s Los Angeles office seven months ago, is not expected to look for another agency. Billings were about $1 million in 1998, less than half the budget of the previous year. Company executives could not be reached at press time.
