Allegro to Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown
ATLANTA–Allegro Resorts Corp. has signed Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown to handle advertising and sales promotions. Billings were not disclosed. The client, based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has four brands–Allegro Resorts, Caribbean Villages, Jack Tar Villages and Royal Hideaway–among its 30 properties. The Orlando, Fla., agency will also work with the client on corporate development.
TFA/Leo Burnett Lands Florida Business
BOSTON–TFA/Leo Burnett Technology Group here has added advertising and media duties for Information Management Resources in Clearwater, Fla. The shop, selected following a review of undisclosed agencies, will work on media, advertising, direct mail, online and collateral assignments for the client, a business software provider. IMR had no agency of record. Spending is expected to top $2 million, according to an agency representative.
Jim Beam Brands Is Cut Loose by Fallon
CHICAGO–Fallon McElligott of Minneapolis resigned Jim Beam Brands’ $8 million account, ending a 10-year relationship. In a statement, agency chairman Pat Fallon said irreconcilable strategic differences arose between the client and the shop. Officials with the Deerfield, Ill.-based company could not be reached for comment on plans to name a successor. Fallon McElligott’s most recent work for the client’s flagship brand, Jim Beam bourbon, encourages men to “Get in touch with your masculine side.”
Buick Breaks Its First Hispanic Advertising
DETROIT–General Motors’ Buick division this month breaks its first Hispanic effort, a Spanish-language TV spot for the Century sedan. The ad, plus a 70-second auto show video, were created by Buick agency McCann-Erickson, Troy, Mich., in collaboration with Vidal Reynadardos & Moya, New York.
Mirage Ends Search, Annoints GSD&M
DALLAS–Mirage Resorts, Las Vegas, cut short a review expected to last six more weeks and hired GSD&M of Austin, Texas, to handle the creative portion of its $30 million account. Other shops contacted in the monthlong review, according to a client official, included The Richards Group, Dallas; TBWA/Chiat/Day, Playa del Rey, Calif.; and Deutsch, New York. Media buying remains at Western International Media in Los Angeles.
Doner Gets Animated for Blockbuster Video
DETROIT–W.B. Doner & Co. in Southfield, Mich., this week breaks its first full campaign for Blockbuster since succeeding Young & Rubicam, New York, as lead agency on the $100 million-plus client’s account. A 30-second TV spot and accompanying print feature Santa rendered in anime, or Japanese-style animation. The “Go home happy” tagline is not used in the commercial but appears in print ads.
