Sun City Taps SRI for Agency Search
LOS ANGELES–Phoenix-based Del Web Corp. has retained Los Angeles consultancy Select Resources International to conduct an agency search for its consolidated Sun City housing communities nationwide. Billings are estimated at $10 million. Previous ads were handled on the local level by each Sun City community. The company operates 13 communities in seven states.
UPN Screens Shops on Both Coasts
LOS ANGELES–United Paramount Network has narrowed the list of contenders for its ad account down to “about a half-dozen shops,” confirmed a representative at the Los Angeles-based network. The representative declined to name the contenders, but noted that small- to midsized shops in Los Angeles and New York are involved. Previous ads were handled in-house and by various creative boutiques and freelance teams. Billing are estimated at $15-20 million, according to sources.
Wieden Shuffles Strategic Planning Executives
LOS ANGELES–Wieden & Kennedy has appointed John Shaw director of strategic planning in its London office. Shaw, 39, previously served in the same capacity at the agency’s Portland, Ore., headquarters. “His appointment to the London office is part of the ongoing globalization of the strategic planning group,” said Chris Riley, chief strategic officer at the agency. Replacing Shaw in Portland is Russell Davies, 32, who has served as a strategic planner at the agency for three years.
Togo’s Marketing Exec Moves to Allied Domecq
BOSTON–Allied Domecq Retailing in Randolph, Mass., named Syl Saller to the newly created post of director of marketing and development. Saller is currently vice president of marketing for Togo’s Eateries, a Cupertino, Calif.-based sandwich chain, which is conducting a review for its estimated $1-2 million account.
Blue Shield Narrows Interactive Search
SAN FRANCISCO–Blue Shield of California, San Francisco, has narrowed the list of contenders for its estimated $8 million direct and interactive business to Sansome Group, Foote, Cone & Belding and Blau Direct Edge, all San Francisco; OgilvyOne Worldwide, Los Angeles; and Direct Partners, Santa Monica, Calif.
