TLP Adds Media for Pepsi Bottlers Group
CHICAGO–Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers (PCGB), a subsidiary of Whitman Corp. in Rolling Meadows, Ill., tapped TLP in Dallas to handle its $10-15 million media buying account. Company officials said the move was based on TLP’s experience with the Pepsi-Cola system. PCGB produces and distributes Pepsi-Cola products in 12 states in the central U.S. Media had previously been purchased by Genadco, an in-house agency that is being dissolved. TLP handles national promotions for Pepsi.
Richards to Launch Golden Corral Ads
DALLAS–The Richards Group here on Jan. 25 is releasing four television spots for Golden Corral that continues to use the “Almost too good to believe” tag. Airing in 25 DMAs around the U.S., the ads reinforce the chain’s fair prices and use of fresh ingredients. One execution shows a Golden Corral manager who turns down a food salesman peddling a vacuum-packed frozen pot roast. Golden Coral’s 1997 ad spending was $5.3 million, per Competitive Media Reporting.
DDB Needham to Debut Gladney Work
DALLAS–DDB Needham Dallas is introducing a new PSA campaign for Gladney Centers for Adoption in Fort Worth, Texas. The 30-second ads will air on Dallas/Fort Worth TV stations. The commercials feature animals who adopt infants of other species, such as a squirrel feeding a nest of baby birds. Each ad includes a voiceover: “Isn’t it nice to know that if you’re not ready to be a mom, someone else is. You just have to know where to find her.”
T3 Lands Gourmet Foods’ Frozen Dinners
DALLAS–T3 in Austin, Texas, was hired to develop brand work for Austin-based Michael Angelo’s Gourmet Foods, a line of frozen Italian dinners. Billings were undisclosed.
SunAmerica Begins Agency Search
LOS ANGELES–SunAmerica here has placed its estimated $10-12 million account in review. The financial services firm has hired consultancy Select Resources International to conduct the review. Incumbent Asher & Partners here will defend, an agency executive said.
Ryland Homes Plans to Hire Henderson
ATLANTA–According to industry sources, Henderson Advertising in Greenville, S.C., will be named the winner of the $2 million Southeast regional account of Ryland South Homes in Columbia, Md. Incumbent Goswick Advertising in Houston did not defend the account, but will remain agency of record for the rest of Ryland’s southern market, including Texas.
