NEW YORK NBC Universal has retained independent incumbent Horizon Media for broadcast buying chores and enlisted Publicis Groupe’s Fallon for media planning and some buying on its estimated $140 million ad account following a review, the client has confirmed.

The other contenders were MDC Partners’ Media Kitchen and Publicis Groupe’s MediaVest, as well as Interpublic Group’s Initiative and deutschMedia, per sources. All contenders pursued the business from their offices in New York.

MediaVest and Media Kitchen had shared planning duties.
