Hoover Jingle Tolls for Tatham

The “Nobody does it like you” jingle continues in new Hoover vacuum cleaner ads from Euro RSCG Tatham, but client executives aren’t singing that sentiment about its agency these days.
A TV campaign prepared for the Steam Vac Widepath’s national sales push next month is likely Tatham’s last work for the Canton, Ohio, client.
Through consultant Jones-Lundin Associates in Chicago, the client has contacted 12-15 shops in the Midwest and East Coast. Hoover has been at Tatham for 11 years but turnover in the shop’s upper management has contributed to the decision to put the $25 million account in review, sources said.
Hoover official Lynne Dragomier declined to identify the agencies in consideration but said Tatham would be invited. Tatham representatives declined comment; sources said the shop is not expected to participate. A short list is expected in September with a decision in November.
Tatham’s latest 30- and 15-second spots and 60- and 80-second infomercials show a father horsing around with his son, a children’s sleepover party and a baby crawling among the products.
“You feel better deep down if you know it’s OK for your kids to play on the floor,” said Tatham group account director Jim Beall.
The spots feature a fresh version of the jingle and are tagged “Deep down, you want Hoover,” a line Tatham launched in May.
