Honeywell Consolidates Its Account at McCann

McCann-Erickson, set to break a campaign for Honeywell Consumer Products Group’s Pres tone anti freeze this week, has picked up the group’s consolidated account.

The group also includes FRAM filters, Autolite spark plugs and Holts car-care pro ducts. Those brands, pre vi ously at Arnold, Boston, were consolidated at McCann’s Troy, Mich., office without a review. Sources said the additional brands approximately doubled the shop’s existing $10 million Honeywell business.

Two 30-second TV spots for Pres tone break on Sept. 23 and feature Jillian Barberie, who was introduced as the product’s spokes woman last fall. Barberie is the “Wea ther Girl” on Fox’s pre game football show. The campaign also includes trade and consumer print ads and in-store displays.

The campaign, which targets sports fans and automotive do-it-your selfers, will play prominently during Fox’s NFL pregame show, as well as on ESPN2, TNN, the Speed Channel, TBS, DIY Network, The Weather Channel, the History Channel and Fox Sports Net.

Additional spot buys are being made in 16 cold-weather markets where the NFL has franchises.

The creative continues use of the tagline, “It’s Prestone season,” said Charlie Metzger, shop svp and director of client services and business dev elopment. “It’s build ing on the idea that the fall season is Prestone season,” he said. “We are trying to take ownership of the fall season.”

Both spots show Bar berie with a Camaro convertible in Pres tone’s signature yellow and black as she presses the brand on other drivers. One spot debuts a quick-fill container and extends the tag to, “It’s Prestone season made easy.”
