ATLANTA The Home Depot has named former General Motors executive Roger Adams to the newly created position of senior vice president of marketing, the company said.

Adams, 48, will manage the Atlanta-based retailer’s advertising, branding and event marketing. He will report to John Costello, the company’s executive vice president of merchandising and marketing.

The client spent $485 million on domestic ads in 2003 and more than $400 million through November 2004, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Adams was executive director of corporate advertising and marketing for GM before joining Home Depot.
