Holt To Editor-In-Chief Of Adweek

Sid Holt, former managing editor of Rolling Stone, joins Adweek Magazines today as executive vice president and editor-in-chief.
Holt, 42, reports to Adweek Magazines president Mark Dacey and oversees the editorial direction of Adweek, Brandweek, Mediaweek, MC, Interactive Quarterly and Luxe, as well as the company’s online service.
“We serve markets that are so entrenched in consumerism that we think Sid’s interests and knowledge of popular culture will be a real asset to his leadership of our stable of properties,” Dacey said. “He is a student of magazines, but his real expertise is in leadership and management.”
Holt spent 13 years at Wenner Media’s Rolling Stone, the last seven as its managing editor. From 1995, he also served as Us magazine’s editorial director and, a year later, added vice president of Wenner Media to his titles. Holt began his publishing career in 1980 as an editor at Simon & Schuster.
“I’m thrilled to be taking over this successful editorial franchise,” Holt said. “Marketing, advertising and the media are all an extension of my work at Rolling Stone. It’s a natural transition.”
Holt succeeds Craig Reiss, who was promoted in February to senior vice president of Adweek Magazines’ parent company, BPI Communications. Reiss also serves as president of BPI’s Design Group, which includes Architecture, Interiors, PDN and Pix magazines.
A subsidiary of VNU-USA, BPI publishes 23 titles, including Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter.
