Hill, Holliday Adds Fallon Exec

BOSTON Interpublic Group’s Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos here said it has hired Baba Shetty as executive vice president.

Shetty will serve as Kristi Argyilan’s replacement in managing the agency’s media planning and buying groups, as well as overseeing consumer targeting and interactive activities. (The agency recently elevated Argyilan to general manager.)

Shetty, 40, joins Hill, Holliday from Minneapolis-based Fallon, where he served as managing director of interactive.

“He has the precise combination of strategic insight, creativity and passion to help take the agency to the next level,” said Mike Sheehan, president and CEO of Hill, Holliday, in a statement. “Baba will work hand-in-hand with Kristi Argyilan as we combine our media group capabilities for both creative and relationship marketing.”

“Clearly, it’s not business as usual in this industry any longer,” said Argyilan. “We need to think more broadly and strategically about the kinds of integrated solutions we bring to clients. Baba’s experience with emerging media and technology and nontraditional campaigns such as BMW Films make him the ideal person to take us to the next level.”

As head of Fallon’s interactive group, Shetty worked on global brands including BMW, Sony, Citibank and United Airlines. He also has served as group account director on the U.S. BMW account, which left Fallon last year for Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners in Sausalito, Calif., following a review.
