HHCC N.Y.’s New Hire

Steve Diamond joined Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos’ New York office last week in the new position of evp, creative director in charge of relationship marketing, the second re lationship marketing evp hire in two months.

Diamond, 42, was previously ecd at OgilvyOne in Chicago, where he was responsible for direct mar keting and advertising on accounts such as Ameritrade, Sears and Arthur Ander sen. At Hill, Holliday, he will oversee direct marketing creative for the New York office’s clients, which include Verizon Wireless, Minolta and Dun & Brad street.

He will also work closely on new-business development with Stacia Goddard, evp, managing director of the relationship marketing department, who was hired in late March [Adweek, March 26].

Diamond will report to David Wecal, president of Hill, Holliday in New York, who said he hired Diamond on the strength of his direct experience and cre ative work.

“I loved his Ameritrade stuff,” Wecal said. “That’s some of the best stuff running. Not just the best direct, the best period.”

Hill, Hol liday’s lure for Diamond: its integrated approach to servicing cli ents.

“It’s a totally different [agency] model here,” he said. “When a client comes with a problem, we solve that problem in whatever medium and with whatever technique that makes sense.”

Before OgilvyOne, Diamond was svp, group cd at Young & Rubicam’s WCJ, now Impiric, in New York, where he worked on Guinness, Citi bank and Sony, among others. Previously, he was an svp, senior partner at Ogilvy & Mather Direct in New York.

The New York office of Hill, Holliday has about 130 staffers.
