Gear Maker Takes Aim at Soccer’s Grunts
LOS ANGELES–Italian soccer shoe and apparel maker Diadora whips wimpy American players into shape in a series of three boot-camp-themed ads from Hammerquist
& Halverson.
“From this point forward, there are no individuals. That mullet, son? It goes, too,” reads the first ad, showing players lining up in jockstraps to receive Diadora gear from a mustachioed Italian coach/
drill sergeant. In the other ads, the coach lambastes the grunts as they clean their cleats and inspects the shoes as the first game approaches.
