NEW YORK–An era in comic book history and brand licensing was put to rest Tuesday when The Harvey Entertainment Co. completed its previously announced sale of Harvey’s Classic Cartoon characters for approximately $17 million and the transfer of certain liabilities to Classic Media, LLC.

The company also announced its corporate name change to Sunland Entertainment Co., signaling an end to the legendary Harvey brand that has been around since the 1950s, when it created such well-known characters as Casper the Friendly Ghost, Hot Stuff, Little Dot, Baby Huey, Richie Rich, Wendy the Witch, Little Lotta and Herman and Katnip.
