Hammersley Returns to Lowe Lintas NY as CEO?

NEW YORK -Paul Hammersley, CEO of Lowe Lintas & Partners in London, is returning to Lowe Lintas’ New York office, this time in the role of U.S. CEO, reporting to chairman Gary Goldsmith, sources said.

Hammersley, who is coming off a successful 2000 in Lo ndon, during which the shop added $116 million U.S. in billings, faces the challenge of managing a $1.8 billion office that is attempting to regain its stride after a year of client, management and staffing issues borne of the merger of Lowe & Partners a n d Ammirati Puris Lintas. Lowe Lintas also has a San Francisco office.

His arrival will create a management triumvirate that includes Goldsmith, who also holds the title of chief creative officer, and New York president Rob Quish.

Hammersley joined The L owe Group in 1993, as a senior vice president in charge of client services in new business. Two years later, he and Bruce Kelley became co-general managers of then Lowe & Partners\SMS in New York. In 1996, Hammersley returned to his svp post at The Low e G roup, and in 1997, he became managing director in London. Hammersley claimed the CEO title after Lowe parent Interpublic merged Lowe with APL in October 1999.
