DETROIT — Former General Motors executive Phil Guarascio has been named chairman of AdSpace Networks, a media technology company in Burlingame, Calif.

Guarascio retired in May 2000 as vice president of advertising and corporate marketing for GM, the automaker’s top ad position.

AdSpace, which has offices in Las Vegas and New York, is a three-year-old company that provides digital outdoor media.

AdSpace aims to “bring digital media to public spaces and to bring retail merchandising into the digital era, while preserving brand identity,” Guarascio said in a statement.
