SBC Communications is nearing the end of an agency review for its proposed long-distance telephone service.
Industry sources said agencies making final presentations last week were GSD&M of Austin, Texas, and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco.
Both agencies are roster shops of the San Antonio-based telecom. GSD&M is the agency of record for SBC, while Goodby handles the Pacific Bell division. New York’s Lowe Lintas & Partners, which handles the Ameritech division, did not participate in the pitch.
The account has been estimated at $15 million.
A client official said SBC filed an application last week to provide long-distance service in Texas.
