Grocer Leaves Cramer-Krasselt, Hires VML

CHICAGO Winn-Dixie has enlisted WPP Group’s VML to help it develop a strategic marketing platform following the supermarket chain’s split with Cramer-Krasselt, a client representative said.

In addition to Kansas City, Mo.-based VML, the Jacksonville, Fla.-based supermarket chain also continues to work with Zubi Advertising in Coral Gables, Fla., on Hispanic advertising, the rep said.

Cramer-Krasselt won the chain’s business in May 2001 following a yearlong review. The shop handled the account out of its Orlando, Fla., and Chicago offices. The agency-client split has led to five staff layoffs in Orlando, leaving about 47 employees, said C-K CEO Peter Krivkovich.

The client spent $17 million on all advertising last year and $25 million in 2002, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
