Gone Fishin’

In Minnesota, it’s an age-old question: Which is more important, work or ice fishing? The call of the client, or the call of the wild?
Russell & Herder Advertising in Brainerd, Minn., claims to have found a solution to this dilemma by creating the world’s first “offshore conference center.”
Measuring 16 feet by 8 feet, the facility on Hole-in-the-Day Bay of Gull Lake in northern Minnesota is equipped with with a television, VCR, cellular phone and fax machine, and a plexiglass conference table attached to pulleys to allow easy access when it’s time for that important meeting.
“One of our core beliefs is that it isn’t where one does business, but how one does business,” said agency principal Carol Russell.
Operating under the slogan “Sound strategy. Good fishing,” the agency hopes the ice fishing shelter/conference center will provide an environment where its creative teams and clients can develop bold business strategies and original thinking.
