Amount that Glamour will donate to heart-healthy charities for every ad-agency employee who dresses in red next Friday, Feb. 6. The magazine, along with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the American Heart Association and WomenHeart, is sponsoring the first National Wear Red Day to sound the alarm that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of American women. Goodies await the shop that scares up the most red-wearers: $20 Macy’s gift cards for each participant; $5,000 extra donated in the agency’s name (up to $10,000 total, including the $10 donations); and a rockin’ party, thrown by Glamour. “The magazine last year chose heart health as its official cause, and we felt that with February being National Heart Health Month, we should do something fun to raise awareness,” says Glamour publisher Suzanne Grimes. “And besides, everybody looks good in red.” The agencies that plan to participate include Carat, Deutsch, McCann-Erickson, MindShare and OMD. To keep ne’er-do-wells at bay in this age of scandal, Glamour is providing disposable cameras for the shops to document their red-clad troops.
