DETROIT General Motors will announce Wednesday that it is shifting some of its key marketing executives into different positions and realigning its retail structure, according to sources.

Kurt Ritter, currently divisional marketing general manager of Chevrolet, has been appointed to the new position of general manager, Buick and Pontiac-GMC divisions. GM executives believe the alignment of Buick, Pontiac and GMC dealers will make this retail channel the fourth largest in the automotive industry. He will report to John Middlebrook, vice president of vehicle brand marketing and corporate advertising.
