Gleason Taps PR Boss

Former Publicis Public Relations president Susan Lomelino has been appointed the new principal of the public relations unit at Gleason Calise Associates here.
Lomelino will be in charge of an independent division within the agency that chief executive officer Charlie Calise hopes will be the basis of seamless advertising and public relations assignments for certain clients.
“This is very much in keeping with our strategy,” said Calise. The shop will also maintain separate public relations and advertising clients, he added.
Lomelino was a longtime public relations official at Publicis, having worked with Calise when both were at that agency in the 1980s.
According to Publicis, she left the agency in October 1998. Publicis PR is now headed by president Sherry Smith.
Lomelino could not be reached for comment.
Her arrival at Gleason coincides with three recent account wins on the public relations side: Thompson’s Water Seal, HCL/Deluxe and S2 Technologies.
She replaces former Gleason principal Reg Rowe, who was tapped to head public relations when the agency first spun off the business in November 1997. Rowe is no longer with the agency, Calise said. Other principals at the shop include president Matthew Gleason, chief financial officer Larry Booth and executive creative director Don Sedei.
The agency is also currently hunting for a new principal to lead its freestanding MediaWise unit. Former MediaWise president Eileen Weinert departed in January for a top post at Reich Communications in Lakewood, Colo.
