GKV in Baltimore Takes the Lead For Sunny’s Stores

GKV Communications has been named lead agency for camping and sporting goods retailer Sunny’s Great Outdoors.

The Baltimore agency, formerly Gray, Kirk/Vansant, will handle advertising, media buying, direct marketing and public relations chores for the Elkridge, Md.-based merchant. A campaign is expected to break this fall.

Sunny’s, which began as an Army-Navy surplus outlet in the late 1940s, expanded into outdoor product sales in later years.

“Our intent is to build on the things that made the Sunny’s brand special,” said GKV chief operating officer Ken Yednock.

Currently, Sunny’s operates 18 stores in the Washington, D.C.-Baltimore-Delaware corridor.
