Introducing Barry Manilow as an inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame last week in New York, Trisha Yearwood began by singing a rousing rendition of his hit “Could It Be Magic.” Manilow rocked to and fro in approval, and when she finished, Yearwood extolled Manilow’s gifts, saying she’s been a fan since childhood.

Among those gifts, Yearwood mentioned slyly, was a knack for writing commercial jingles, which Manilow did early in his career. Some of Yearwood’s favorites: “I Am Stuck on Band-Aid,” “State Farm Is There” and “Give Yourself Something to Smile About With Stridex.”
