Thomas Becker is about halfway through his 50-state tour, and he’s still bowling strikes.
Guinness’s bowling world-record holder for most pins knocked down in the fewest hours (more than 30,000 in just less than 31 hours) is traveling the country, leading thousands of bowlers in a fund-raising effort to battle the childhood disease spinal muscular atrophy.
Co-sponsored by AMF bowling and the Web site, and publicized by The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., which has taken the Internet venue as a pro-bono client, the “Bowling Gives” tour swings into the South this week, hitting Louisville, Ky., and Nashville, Tenn.
Becker is challenging corporations and individuals in each state to help sponsor the tour and bowl with him–the goal is to raise $1 million for SMA medical research. Interested parties can call toll-free at (877) 926-3762, or register at
He’ll be tough to beat, though–Becker guarantees 100 strikes a night.
The tour climaxes in New York, in late August.
