CHICAGO Chinese NBA rookie Yao Ming will appear with other professional athletes this spring in a new Gatorade commercial from Omnicom’s Element 79 Partners here, according to the brand’s parent, PepsiCo.

Ming, the 7-foot 5-inch center of the Houston Rockets, signed a multi-year agreement with Gatorade that the company said “has implications beyond the U.S.”

In his first commercial, Ming, New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will show up at a boy’s house to play.
