Garland Joins Allen & Gerritsen

Dwight Garland has joined Allen & Gerritsen as group marketing director.

Garland has worked as a consultant to various clients and agencies since leaving office-supply giant Staples in 1999 following a two-year stint as vp, advertising and branding. At Staples, he helped guide the “Yeah, we’ve got that” campaign from lead agency Cliff Freeman and Partners. Prior to Staples, Garland served as vp, group retail director at Boston shop Holland Mark, overseeing the TJX Cos. and Veryfine accounts.

“Dwight’s wealth of experience with consumer-focused companies further enhances the services A&G will provide,” said Andrew Graff, president of the Watertown, Mass., agency. Garland’s hiring represents “a further commitment by A&G to grow our consumer goods and retail competencies,” he said.

At A&G, Garland will oversee the shop’s work for Tyco’s M/A-COM subsidiary and possibly other accounts to be determined.

Since he was named A&G’s president in late 2000, Graff has tried to refocus the shop, best known for its business-to-business and technology marketing prowess, on mainstream consumer brands. The agency, with roughly $100 million in billings, works for clients such as Horizon’s Edge Cas ino Cruises and Segue Software.
