The Miller Group has developed a pro bono campaign for Los Angeles-based apparel maker Homeboy Industries that details the black-and-white effects of gang wars.
Founded in 1992, the company helps ex-gang members become productive members of society by providing them with jobs in its merchandising division.
Two of the three posters designed for its line of clothing use photographs of actual gang-related events. The one shown here features a group of young people comforting one another around an open casket, mourning the death of a friend.
Renee Miller, the Los Angeles agency’s president and creative director, says she learned of Homeboy Industries from a newspaper article, and decided to get involved. “It looked like there was an incredible need for our help,” she says.
The posters will be in Los Angeles stores that carry Homeboy merchandise next month.
