Funke Joins BBDO Chicago as Group CD

CHICAGO BBDO Chicago has hired TBWA\Chiat\Day creative director Erich Funke as senior vice president, group creative director on its Jim Beam Brands account.

Funke, 38, will be one of three group creative directors at the agency, reporting to chief creative officer Marty Orzio. While at his previous agency, Funke helped create Infiniti’s image campaign and also worked on the Sony PlayStation and Apple Computer accounts. Prior to working at TBWA\C\D in Playa del Rey, Calif., Funke was a creative director at TBWA Hunt Lascaris in South Africa.

“This is a major coup for BBDO,” said Orzio in a statement. “Erich’s television and print work for clients such as Infiniti, Apple, Sony PlayStation and Harmon/Kardon demonstrate his ability to consistently create work that gets noticed, touches the consumer and helps build brands in highly competitive categories.”

The agency has been on a hiring binge lately. In addition to installing Orzio in February, the shop recently added Diane Jackson as director of broadcast production, Chris Iannuccilli as client service director of new business and Chip Walker as director of account planning.
