Fox Selects Vizeum

NEW YORK Fox has awarded the international portion of its media account to Aegis Group’s Vizeum, according to sources. That business is worth an estimated $350 million.

Fox awarded the North American portion of the account to Publicis Groupe’s Zenith Optimedia a month ago. That assignment is worth at least $750 million.

The film studio launched a global media review last August, indicating that it would consolidate its account at one shop—or at least trim its roster.

Vizeum, Zenith and WPP Group’s MindShare all competed.

At the time of the North America award, Fox indicated that MindShare was out of the running, and that it was considering Zenith and Vizeum for the international portion of the business.

Both the client and the agencies involved declined to comment.

In a few instances, however, local incumbent agencies have been retained to handle the account, because Fox marketing executives in those territories did not want to make a switch, sources said.

During the North American portion of the pitch, Fox added its eponymous TV network, Hispanic and syndication buys to the review, which previously had been handled in-house.

MindShare handled Fox’s national and Canadian cable, local television and radio buying.

The review did not include assignments handled by Allied, Fox’s national newspaper agency.

Consultancy Select Resources International, Santa Monica, Calif., has assisted Fox with the search.

The assignment involves advertising for movies, home entertainment and programming from Twentieth Century Fox, Fox 2000 Pictures, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Fox Atomic, Fox Animation and Twentieth Century Fox International.
