MELBOURNE – Carlton & United Breweries has put its $5-million Foster’s Lager account in review to inject some life into what had been a staple Australian beer in the ’80s. Foster’s has been handled by Backer Spielvogel Bates-owned agency George Patterson for the past 20 years, but the agency has been unable to find advertising solutions to halt the brand’s declining consumption in a contracting marketplace. CUB has invited all its rostered shops to pitch for the account, including the Melbourne and Sydney offices of Patts, Mojo, The Campaign Palace plus independent Sydney shop, Hertz Walpole.
