Former DDB ECDReunites with Cranin

Steve Landsberg, who left his post as co-executive creative director at DDB Worldwide in New York in August, has joined McCann-Erickson Worldwide as one of 11 evps at McCann, North America, and senior creative director for McCann Worldwide. The latter is a new position.

Landsberg, 42, starts at McCann in New York today and reports to Jonathan Cranin, evp, chief creative officer of Mc-Cann’s North America, Europe, Africa and Middle East regions. The two men worked together at Wells Rich Greene/ BDDP from 1993-95 when Landsberg, then a creative director, reported to Cranin.

“We worked together several years ago, and he was terrific then; so I can only assume he’s gotten better with age,” Cranin said. “He’s a great writer and thinker.”

Landsberg will work with Cranin on such accounts as Microsoft, DuPont, Nestlé and General Motors.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to step up and work on a larger playing field on some world-famous brands,” said Landsberg. “Because of McCann’s strength as a global network, I’ll be helping Jonathan capitalize on the new opportunities that are constantly coming down the pike.”

Landsberg also served as a creative supervisor at McCann from 1985-87, working on Coke and American Express. He started as a copywriter at DDB and has worked at the former Chiat/Day, Calet Hirsch & Spector and Ogilvy & Mather.

DDB has yet to replace Landsberg or his former partner, David Nathanson.
