More than two months after selecting an ad agency, Kmart installed a new chief marketing officer to oversee marketing, communications, advertising and brand development for the Troy, Mich., retailer.

Brent Willis comes to Kmart from Coca-Cola, where he was president of a Latin American division. His background also includes stops at Nabisco and Kraft Foods.

Kmart executives announced they were looking to fill such a position during a review that led to the late-September selection of TBWA\-Chiat\Day in New York, which beat agencies that included incumbent Campbell Mithun in Minneapolis.

The review was spurred by the arrival earlier this year of a new CEO at Kmart, Chuck Conaway, to whom Willis will report.
