Fogarty Vet Takes Publicis Job

Twelve-year Fogarty Klein & Partners account management veteran Bill Penczak is leaving the Houston agency this month to assume a senior vice presidency at Publicis in Seattle.
As one of two senior vice presidents and account directors at Fogarty Klein, Penczak oversaw several of the agency’s top clients, including International Home Foods, Randall’s Food Markets and Garden Ridge.
Penczak, who helped Fogarty Klein acquire creative and media planning duties for IHF’s Chef Boyardee and Crunch ‘n Munch brands last year, will split his time between account service and new business duties at Publicis, he said.
Penczak told Adweek he will manage accounts including Eagle Hardware, the Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer at the $120 million agency.
Contacted about the job through a headhunter, Penczak said he decided to accept the post because, “I felt like I’d done everything I could possibly do at Fogarty and learned everything I could from [agency principals] Bill Fogarty and Rich Klein.”
“Bill’s made a major contribution here and been a big part of our growth,” Klein said.
A search is being conducted for a replacement. Some of Penczak’s account management duties are likely to be transferred to director of business development Cynthia McChesney and senior vice president and account director Mike Foulkes.
