Universal Studios’ theme park division has awarded the creative portion of its estimated $30-40 million account to davidandgoliath.

The 2-year-old Los Angeles shop edged The Richards Group of Dallas to win a review that began last summer.

“It was their creative and their energy that did it,” said Jim Yeager, senior vice president of public relations for Universal’s Recreation Group when asked about the winning combination.

Agency managing partners David Angelo and Skip Sullivan could not be reached for comment at press time.

DDB Entertainment of Los Angeles, where Universal’s original theme park concept took off as an adjunct to the film studio’s famous tours, will continue to handle media.

The two finalists survived a cut last month that eliminated Doner, Southfield, Mich.;
