Field Named President of Mintz & Hoke

BOSTON Bill Field has been named president of Mintz & Hoke, one of Connecticut’s largest ad agencies.

Field takes over day-to-day management duties at the Avon, Conn., shop, as well as the president’s title, from Chris Knopf, who remains chairman and executive creative director. Field has been with the agency for 17 years, most recently as evp, director of client services.

Knopf said the move “puts our respective talents to work where they can make the most impact.” In addition to overseeing the independent shop’s creative department, Knopf will also focus on new business and provide strategic services to key clients.

The 55-person agency estimates its 2002 billings at $60 million, down $5 million from the previous year.

Currently, Webster Bank, one of its signature clients, is close to leaving the roster as it considers two undisclosed New York agency finalists in a review.

Mintz & Hoke is the second regional player of note to name a new president this week. Boston’s Modernista! on Wednesday bestowed the same mantle on former Bozell executve Clift Jones.
