Ferrero Stages Creative, Media Reviews

LOS ANGELES Confectionery company Ferrero USA has launched separate reviews for its creative and media accounts, confirmed Select Resources International, which is conducting the creative search.

The Somerset, N.J.-based client has worked with Interpublic Group’s McCann-Erickson in New York. The shop now has a conflict due to the recently won Adams confectionery business. Adams is a division of Cadbury Schweppes. The agency declined comment, as did SRI in West Hollywood, Calif.

The creative search will focus on agencies located in the New York, Boston and Philadelphia markets, according to the consultant. Responses to the request for proposal are due by mid-January, followed by a cut to semifinalists. A decision is expected in mid-March.

Details of the media agency search could not immediately be determined. The client did not return calls.

Ferrero USA spent $38 million on ads in 2002 and $20 million through October 2003, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Ferrero was founded in Italy in 1946 and began operations in the U.S. in 1969. Its products include Tic Tac and Ferrero Rocher chocolates.
