Fallon Lays Off Another 60

CHICAGO — Fallon laid off 60 people, or 11 percent, of its Minneapolis headquarters staff on Tuesday.

Agency officials cited the continued economic slowdown for the cuts, which were across the board. The shop in July laid off 30 staffers for similar reasons.

Some key Fallon clients such as United Airlines and Holiday Inn have been especially hard-hit by the economy and post Sept. 11 fallout.

In a statement, Fallon Minneapolis general manager Eric Block said: “The post-September 11 business climate continues to negatively impact client marketing expenditures and subsequently, agency revenues. While these are extraordinarily difficult decisions, we are operating in the most challenging economic environment we’ve experienced in our 20-year history as a company.
