Fallon Camps up Nordstrom

Fallon Camps up Nordstrom Site

The first original content on Nordstrom’s branded entertainment site, nordstrom- silverscreen.com, created by Fallon in Minneapolis, is a recut Go-Go’s video, “Our Lips are Sealed,” with a remix of the song by Fatboy Slim and new scenes featuring Nordstom models directed by Olivier Gondry. “We were looking for videos that were fun, a little bit campy, and yet some substance we could alter,” says group creative director Susan Treacy, who worked on the video along with copywriter Jen Stocksmith and art director James Zucco. The video is just the beginning of the branded music and video entertainment that will appear on the site. The next offering, out in January, will feature animation by Ruben Toledo, a New Yorker cartoonist.

Magazine Morphs into Agency

When Suede magazine, a design-heavy Essence spinoff, closed in February, the creative team wanted to stick together. So it quickly changed directions and created a new design and ad agency, Chandelier, based in New York with offices in Portland, Ore., and Paris. The name depicts the network of designers and artists the shop taps for its work, says creative director Robert Christiansen. He describes his 11-person shop’s aesthetics as “garish color and maximalism rather than minimalism.” Chandelier, which counts Iceberg and the Thompson Hotel Group among its clients, is currently shooting a campaign for Baby Phat in Los Angeles.
