McCann-Erickson in Houston held off the challenges of three undisclosed contenders to retain the $20 million media account of Exxon Corp., headquartered in Irving, Texas.
Exxon representative Joe Gonzales confirmed the incumbent’s victory last week, stating, “We have completed our review, and we will continue our long and mutually beneficial relationship with Mc-Cann-Erickson.”
Gonzales did not name other contenders, although sources said one agency and two buying services joined McCann in making pitches to Exxon marketing executives.
