Expanded Roles for McCann Execs

NEW YORK Interpublic Group’s McCann Worldgroup said it has expanded the responsibilities of two executives in Europe to include its Middle East and African operations.

Rupert Howell, 48, becomes regional director of McCann WorldGroup EMEA and will also continue to run McCann Worldgroup in the U.K. Giuseppe Usuelli, 57, who heads up McCann Worldgroup Italy, will also supervise marketing communications for the company in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Usuelli also takes the title of chairman, Worldgroup EMEA.

Both report to McCann Worldgroup CEO John Dooner, who said in a statement that EMEA regional director David Warden had increased capabilities and accounts in the region. Ward will retire effective Dec. 31.

Dooner said, “We have seen in recent years, under David’s leadership, a significant expansion of our marketing communications business, including the number of units, accounts and major clients employing multiple disciplines. In order to continue the momentum, we are tapping into the experience and talents of two of our most dynamic and respected leaders. Both know our clients and their goals, as well as the people and power of our extensive network. They will be aided by Jean-Marie [Le Nail], the new CFO.”

Le Nail, 47, moved from the Paris office of IPG’s Initiative to London to work with the new team as EMEA CFO. He reports to Howell and Ramesh Rajan, McCann Worldgroup CFO based in New York. Usuelli will continue to be based in Milan.

Warden, 57, has served as regional director since 2003. He joined McCann in 1992.

In addition to McCann Erickson, the advertising agency, McCann Worldgroup includes companies such as Momentum, MRM and Weber Shandwick. Its client roster includes Coke, GM, Unilever, L’Oreal, Microsoft and Intel.
