Euro RSCG Vanishes in Dallas Merger

DALLAS Euro RSCG’s Dallas office will now be known as SWJ—Schroepfer Wessels Jolesch—after parent Havas acquired SWJ and merged the two agencies, the company said.

The combined agency will have about 80 employees and billings of $100 million.

Chief executive officer Jake Schroepfer, chief operating officer Jerry Wessels and president Bruce Jolesch lead SWJ.

“This is a terrific opportunity for our agency,” said Schroepfer. “We will now have access to the world-class resources of Havas, while maintaining our identity in the region and gaining new talent from Euro RSCG.”

The Euro RSCG office in Dallas specialized in retail clients but lost its showpiece Rent-A-Center account in 2005. The outpost had been struggling ever since.

This marks the second loss of a major agency name in the Dallas area in a year. Omnicom Groupe’s TracyLocke absorbed the local office of DDB in 2006.

Euro RSCG in Dallas evolved from a shop founded as the Forbes Group by Dave Kirwan in 1991. That agency was sold to the Brann Group in 1999 and became part of the Euro RSCG network four years later. Kirwan later founded a new agency, Razor Competitive Edge in Dallas, which won RAC from Euro RSCG and broke new work for the client earlier this week.
