Euro RSCG to Promote ‘Stern’ on Sirius

NEW YORK Havas’ Euro RSCG has been tapped to launch a campaign for Sirius Satellite Radio when The Howard Stern Show begins broadcasting on the service early next year, sources said.

The estimated $10 million assignment came after a review in which three other finalists, WPP Group’s Ogilvy & Mather and independent Shepardon Stern + Kaminsky, both New York, and Omnicom Group’s DDB in Chicago competed, sources said.

The media mix will include cinema, print and out-of-home, sources said. Independent Doner in Southfield, Mich., handles the main advertising account of New York-based Sirius. Its status is not affected, sources said.

Separately, the client said today that it has named Martin Lee senior vice president of marketing. He will report to Scott Greenstein, Sirius’ president of entertainment and sports. Lee was most recently vice president of marketing at Olympus.

Sirius is a subscription-based radio service with upwards of 120 channels of music, talk, sports and news in a commercial-free format.

A client representative would not confirm that Euro RSCG in New York was its agency for the assignment. Executives at the agencies involved either declined comment or could not be reached.
