Entries at Cannes Are Up 18%

NEW YORK After adding 12 jurors earlier this month due to increased entries, the International Advertising Festival said it has tallied the official number of submissions.

With nearly every category showing improvement, this year’s total entries were up 18 percent to 22,101, according to the IAF.

The biggest gain came in the direct category, with a nearly 34 percent increase to 1,614 entries. The media category was ahead 23 percent to 1076, and the cyber section had a nearly 22 percent rise to 1,897 entries.

Also growing: the outdoor category, with a 16 percent jump to 4,667 entries, and the press category, which grew 12 percent from last year with 6,699.

The only decrease came in the film category, which was down 2 percent to 4,995.

Eighty-one countries submitted entries. The U.S. had the most, 3,046, followed by Germany, 2,313, and Brazil, 2,198.

The International Advertising Festival will take place June 19-25 in Cannes, France.
