The number of U.S. Internet users that visited social networks at least once a month increased an estimated 11 percent in 2008 to 79.5 million, and will rise nearly 11 percent in 2009 to 88.1 million, according to data provided by eMarketer.

Between 2008-13, the number of U.S. social net users will increase about 44 percent to nearly 115 million, eMarketer said.

The steady streams of updates and news will become a weekly or daily habit for many people.
