Ekman Rejoins GY&K in N.H. as CEO

BOSTON Anders Ekman has returned to Griffin York & Krause as chief executive officer of the independent agency in Manchester, N.H.

Ekman has most recently served for three years at New York-based McCann Worldgroup, where he was chief growth officer for the MRM digital and CRM unit and demand team leader for Worldgroup’s U.S. Army business.

“As we continue to grow and develop new and exciting offerings, we need a leadership team that can maximize our growth and potential,” said Patrick Griffin, chairman of GY&K, in a statement. “Our company is growing, but our commitment to our clients, community and employees remains constant.”

Griffin added, “This team represents the most talented team of senior executives that have been assembled at any agency in our region and beyond. I look forward to working with them to serve our existing and growing client base.” Griffin previously held the CEO title.

The other key leaders are: Travis York, president, Elaine Krause, svp, cd and Cindy Whitehouse, CFO, COO.

Ekman served as svp at the firm from 1995-98 before leaving to join Digitas in Boston. He was also at GY&K from 1989-93.

Already one of the largest shops in Northern New England, GY&K in the past 24 months has added 25 new employees to bolster the company’s interactive, advertising, media and public relations services offerings. The agency now employs more than 50 total staffers.

Key clients include Centex Destination Properties, CW Capital, the Manchester Monarchs Hockey Club, the New Hampshire Lottery, the New Hampshire Liquor Commission, Catholic Medical Center and Globe Manufacturing.
